Well, now that we no longer support MySQL 3.23 (we now require a minimum 
of MySQL 5.0.15), people can feel free to submit patches that put all 
the data integrity checking into the DB and remove it from the 
appliation.  With MySQL 3.23, that was /not/ an option.
