[mythtv-users] Anyone using a Matrix Orbital VFD? How's about one of the USB models w/a switch matrix?

Hey...

I saw the LCD thread and (didn't what to hijack it) decided to start one
but bend it toward hardware hacking a bit.

So, I just saw where Matrix Orbital (long time fav of Linux hackers)
have a USB VFD full of extras like a connector for a switch matrix. You
thinking what I'm thinking??

So, you hide your noisy front end computer and build this small box with
the Matrix Orbital VFD. But you add switches like play pause up down
left right. Enough to get you by in case you are w/o the remote or you
just want to switch-stations / skip-songs. Heck, as long as it's a USB
device throw in an IR USB remote receiver.

If you haven't guessed, I am essentially describing the Bose control box
for one of their 5.1 A/V setups. It looks nice, but I always thought it
would take considerable hacking to make one for a mythfrontend. Now,
I'm not so sure. With the Matrix Orbital module you almost don't need
to add any other electronic components. Ok, a power supply and some
switches. A fairly simple task.
