Looks like you may be using 0.21 release (i.e. the tarballs).  If so, 
DVD playback doesn't work, and you'll need to upgrade to the current 
0.21-fixes version ( http://mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-5.html#ss5.4 , 
the part after "To use a release version").
