Now, finding it when you need it is a whole other kind of luck.

Actually, you do not /have/ to. I am not using the analog side of my
HD-3000, so I did not even enter the analog setup side of it, so there's
no capture card defined for it.

If there's any information in your new DB that's not in the backup, no.
Your best bet is:

If the backup is the same as your new DB (i.e. you haven't done any
recordings or made new rules or ...), then just shut down all of Myth
and restore the backup (
http://mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-23.html#ss23.5 ) and it will upgrade
as if you just started the upgrade today.
