BTW, you've probably mentioned this, but I don't remember and don't feel 
like digging through all the posts, but did you try playing back the 
recording with other media players (i.e. mplayer, vlc, xine, and--if 
possible--some Windows based media players) to determine whether the 
file is corrupt or if it's just a problem with Myth's playback of the file.

If the problem is in Myth's playback, playing it with ffplay (which 
comes with ffmpeg) would be a good test of whether it's a Myth problem 
or an upstream (ffmpeg) problem.  Ideally, you would play it back with 
the ffplay from the ffmpeg SVN revision MythTV 0.21 is currently using 
(I'm pretty sure that's ffmpeg revision 11051).
