I agree with Jay that the usefulness of open source is often limited by 
the lack of documentation. Eventually some software is only usable by 
those who have the time, inclination and capability to read the source. 
IMO the way to fix this is to require all checkins that add or modify 
functionality to provide corresponding documentation changes.
