Yeah.  I wasn't really thinking of laptops, and--at the laptop price 
premium that exists even on Wintel laptops--the difference there is 
small or non-existent.  So, I see your point (though, with sufficient 
hammering, I've always been able to fit a quite-useful, fully functional 
GNU/Linux on my laptops--but doing so does require a lot of research 
before purchasing, which is good because it helps keep me from upgrading 
a laptop that I don't absolutely /have/ to replace :).

And I always forget that some people actually care enough about 
small/pretty/quiet machines to pay extra (as there's also a price 
premium on small/pretty/quiet).  I guess my lack of artistic sense and 
my cheapness have biased my view of the world.
