EH?  you dont get out much do you.

the benefit is that mythtv is open source, and can be changed at will or
to suit your needs.  when did you ask microsoft for the source code for
media center?  did you get it? I doubt you could find a media center
setup that provides 1/2 the functionality that myth does for the same
price.  hell, just the media center software alone will cost more than
the cost of one of my frontends.
