[mythtv-users] frontend machine - run slave backend or connect to master backend?

I'm setting up my first dedicated frontend box, and I'm trying to
figure out whether the machine should run it's own slave backend or
just connect directly to the master backend? From my initial testing,
it appears to work either way. What are the advantages of each? There
are no capture cards on the frontend.

If I run a slave backend, I could use the CPU of the slave for
commercial flagging, right? However, this machine will not be on
continuously. How would the master backend behave if it told a slave
to start commercial flagging a show and then the slave shutdown in the
middle. Would the master continue on with the flagging, or would the
show sit there unflagged until the slave started back up?

Does the backend do much processing for simply watching a recording?
Would there be any significant load difference to the master backend
if the frontend connected directly to it?

Any other issues that favor one method over the other?
