Whether you change a setting or leave it at a default, you are telling
Myth how to behave with that setting. So, you /did/ tell Myth it can do
what it did--unless you're trying to say that someone else (not you) is
responsible for your Myth box and its configuration.
In other words, I don't think you can blame Myth for having a setting
giving you an option that you didn't notice when you were configuring
your system. You might be able to blame all the "No, we need useless
setting XXX" people who make it impossible to remove settings--even when
they are no longer useful--for making configuring Myth a challenge.
But, still, how your Myth box is configured is your responsibility.

And then someone will say, "Myth says there's a conflict because it's
trying to record Heroes on Monday, but it could record it on Saturday.
How come it's too stupid to see that it could record all my shows by
recording Heroes later," or, "I missed Heroes because it was set to
record on Saturday but then it didn't air. Myth sucks. Someone should
fix it..."
The default was changed a year and 4 months ago (so it's been the
default for all of the 0.20 series of Myth (0.20, 0.20.1, 0.20.2, and
0.20-fixes), and I haven't heard of anyone complain about it until now.
I don't know why Bruce changed it (he didn't mention anything about it
in his commit message), but regardless of whether the setting is enabled
or disabled by default, those who decide to flip it will feel the
default should be the opposite.

Glad it's working for you, now. And, now that you know which way you
want that setting set, it won't be an issue for you.
