Glad I could help,
actually I may have found a workaround for the feezing/radeon/dri issue which will allow the dri module to be loaded:
Adding
Option "BusType" "PCI"
under the devices section of the xorg.conf will force an AGP card to PCI mode and apparantly prevents the X from locking up
see
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=6111
the hardware is a little different but I'm going to give it a shot anyway. I'm on my way home now to test.

days without a crash :) ) ! All aspect ratio are operating as they should.
I spent several weeks asking people on formus why the "Radeon" driver was
hard crashing my computer and nobody could help me !

Thanks again,

Rayene,
