Mark,

Firstly, top-posting is bad form. When replying to another posting, go to
the end to add your input. That way anyone reading your entry can read
from top to bottom in sequential order and anyone following the thread will
read the bottom first since they've already read the original posting(s).

The answer to your question depends. ;-)

If you are getting digests, as your question implies, you need to create a
new message with *exactly* the same subject line (typically with "RE:",
"Re:", "re:", etc. prefixed). You can then paste in any relevant text from
the original message and add your input to the end.

OTOH, If you are getting each posting separately, you simply reply to the
message of interest and put your input at the end, cutting out any parts of
the original unrelated to your reply.

Typically, I mark the deletia with <snip> or something similar. (See example
above.)

Given that you may already be doing all of the above, the other possibility is
that, either by default or your choice when setting up your mailing list
preferences, you have opted to prevent seeing your own messages. If you log
in to your mailing list account and go to the message settings options at the
bottom of the web page, you should be able to figure out if there is one that
will fix your situation.

AFA sharing the modifications I did to /etc/init.d/halt (I *did* confirm last
night that that was the file), I'll grab it and post it when I get home tonight.

Craig
