For the price and convenience, I would try the PCI card first, and if it
doesn't work, then you can use a gaming adapter or make your own
wireless bridge with a Linux router and DD-Wrt.
I've not had problems setting up wireless on Linux, and I've had a Myth
box with a wireless PCI card, under Fedora 4. I usually just install
madwifi. In some distributions many wireless cards work out of the box,
like Ubuntu. If it came to the point of ndiswrapper, I would not bother.
You can look on the MadWifi pages for supported cards, or do what I do,
read the reviews on New Egg and see if anyone says "works with Linux" as
do the reviews for this card:

This is a newer model, not the same PCI card as I've used in my Myth
box, so you may have different results. I like that the antenna is
mounted on a short cable so you can put it on top or away from the back
of your box. It's only $23.
