[mythtv-users] Confused about audio and a couple of other things

Well, I don't have DTV anymore, but I'll try to give you a little help.

First, if I recall correctly, the yellow is the video and the red/white
cables are for audio, red being the right channel and white being the left.
What I would do first is buy a mini-stereo 1/4" (I believe) mini jack to rca
converter. They are probably about 4 bucks at radio shack or probably 10
bucks at best buy. You would then plug this into the line-in jack on the
pvr 150 and plug the yellow into the composite in on the pvr 150.

Now, as far as the TV-OUT goes. It really depends on the kind of TV you
have and the kind of video card that you already are using. If your video
card has DVI and your TV does as well, then you can probably use that. What
I am using is S-VIDEO. Yes, I don't get Hi-Def, but at the same time, I
didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a video card. The video card I use
is a Nvidia GeForce that has a svideo jack already on it. I believe I
picked this up at best buy for 30 bucks a few months ago.

There are also some nvidia cards that you can purchase a converter doo-higgy
for that takes the vga signal and converts it to component. I didn't go
down that road because I didn't feel like having another headache.

Last question, about the programming guide. I really don't know how this
would work with directv and myth. What I am guessing, and this is only a
guess....is that you would configure mythtv to use DirecTV instead of a
cable provider. Then, you would use your pvr 150 tv card to blast signals
to your directv box so it would change channels and what-not. In other
words, you wouldn't be using the DTV guide, you would be using the myth
one. But again, maybe somebody else has a better solution.

Good Luck!
Mike
