I didn't expect it to work. I'm sure that somehow either I removed it,
or the yum remove did when I was trying to "reinstall", which was a
stupid thing to do.

Thanks! Didn't know those were there.

I didn't have it working in Myth yet (hadn't even tried), just that irw
would output the codes to the screen.

Now, even with lirdc.conf in place, when I run lircd, this is what I get
in /var/log/messages:
Sep 21 11:34:09 mythtvbe lircd-0.8.1-CVS[2898]: lircd(userspace) ready

And when I run irw, it just goes back to the prompt. This is in
/var/log/messages:
Sep 21 11:34:30 mythtvbe lircd-0.8.1-CVS[2898]: accepted new client on
/dev/lircd
Sep 21 11:34:30 mythtvbe lircd-0.8.1-CVS[2898]: could not get file
information for /dev/lirc
Sep 21 11:34:30 mythtvbe lircd-0.8.1-CVS[2898]: default_init(): No such
file or directory
Sep 21 11:34:30 mythtvbe lircd-0.8.1-CVS[2898]: caught signal
