I found a really nice MySQL backup script that handles daily, weekly, and monthly rotations. That may be a little overzealous for Mythtv, unless it's a mission critical app for you, but still, it's pretty nice. Take a look at: http://members.lycos.co.uk/wipe_out/automysqlbackup/
