OK, I hate to bring up an old thread but it has come back to get me.

Here is the complete thread for reference:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/206982?#206982

I had originally 'solved' my problem by putting the 2 cards (bttv and
saa7134) into different backends and just creating custom recording
profiles. Well, I have since had to put both cards back into one
system and am back with this problem.

If I understand this conversation correctly, I should be able to rid
myself of the hum/chipmunks by using /etc/asound.conf. Now, my
question is this, my backend with 2 cards is in a closet and my
frontend is by my TV. Since asound.conf is for *playback* I'm going
to go out on a limb here and say that I need to have a properly
configured /etc/asound.conf on the frontend, correct?

With that in mind, am I also correct in assuming that if my capture
cards are correct in mythtv-setup (the bttv card audio at 48000 and
the saa7134 card at 32000) then I *should* be able to use
nuvexport/transcode/mencoder to convert the recorded programs to
another format and have clean sound?
