Thanks for all the suggestions - As it turns out, it appears as though
some DVDs are actaully letterboxed even in 16:9 (I was watching Star
Wars Episod III). Other DVDs are fine (just watched Ledgends of the
Fall all the way through)

When I get a bit more time, I'll put together some detailed
documentation on my setup
