My suggestion is to get a rear projection LCD HDTV.  We got a Panasonic 52"
(1024 x 768) a few months ago for less than $2K, & have loved every bit of
it.  A plasma TV on the wall looks nice, but when it comes to the decision
time for yourself, I doubt you will be sleeping well doing that.
