So does this imply that the only way to display an actual HD picture in
HD mode is to find a modeline that works on my TV with a 1920x1080
resolution?  Or is that what the Nvidia "TVOutFormat" "HD1080i" is
supposed to do (have the driver scale it to 1920x1080?)

I am still terribly confused about all this stuff.
