Does seem strange, do you have TwinView set up on your Xorg.conf ?  
Normally you'd see something on a TV if that was the only thing  
connected without it, but you never know with these proprietary  
binary blobs :-)

There's nothing physically on the card (like a jumper) that has to be  
set, that card is totally S/W controlled.
