Had this same problem lastnight for a friend, your not doing the
mythtv-setup from a vnc session (rather then logging onto the machine
as the user).

We found that if we setup a virtual vnc session and used it, as I
wanted friend to jump on too so I could show him what I was doing, but
everytime we got the point you did. Same problem and it would generate
same error.

In the end I said to him drop the vnc virtual session, and share out
the real desktop for that user.

Logged on and no problems. I'll ask him if he remembers anything
specific we might of done.
