Have you tried 800x600 and forcing a 4:3 aspect ratio? I had this 
problem when I went from
my PVR 350's TVOUT to my nvidia 5200, and I solved it by turning off all 
overscan settings
in MythTV and instead using overscan in xorg.conf.
