I am adding in to confirm this issue. I have been trying to figure this out for quite some time now. Even if I tell transcode not to mess with the audio, It still downmixes to stereo. I am using spdif with optical out. I recorded a movie off my antenna last week that was in HD with 5.1 sound. The original played in Dolby Digital just fine (well, at least in mplayer it did, myth tv was having issues of flipping the sound on and off, but it's just one channel that does that) I transcoded it today, and good-bye Dolby Digital. I even went down and adjusted my receiver so that instead of 'auto sensing' it was on DD. no sound whatsoever.

I have had this happen with every file I'v transcoded that had 5.1 when it started out. Before someone mentioned something about a flag in the video stream - can't we put that back in?

Anyway, if anyone knows how to transcode without loosing the DD5.1, that would be useful info for me.

Thanks,
Rick
