I must say that I've not had any problems whatsoever with
tuning/recording with either of the Nova-Ts in my system (both using the
Conexant chipset).  I am, however, using the latest drivers from CVS (or
Mercurial nowadays) rather than the in-kernel drivers.  You may want to
give those a try (see http://www.linuxtv.org/).

This should show in lspci (mine shows as "Multimedia video controller:
Conexant CX23880/1/2/3 PCI Video and Audio Decoder (rev 05)").  You
could also check out lsmod to see which DVB modules have loaded, and
dmesg should show the initialisation of the card.
