There is a setting in MythTV's audio configuration to independently
control the left and right channels (in case you have a different
language broadcast on each channel). I would make sure you do not have
this enabled, and also to make sure you are controlling a stereo audio
mixing device, such as PCM or Master, if you are letting MythTV
control volume.
