Well I'm gonna be using a DVI link -> to a proper DVI input on my PC (not
that it's any different to a HDMI input, minus sound)

Watch out for this. On some TV's (at least for mine), the VGA input will
only accept certain resolutions, and HDMI or component are the only ways
to do HD. (I gather there are adapters that will allow you to connect a
VGA output cable to some other type of input on the TV, but I know
nothing about them).
