My experience was a mix between the two. On my backend machine I
was able to upgrade from 0.18 to 0.19 in just a few hours. The
database conversion went off without a hitch. The biggest problem
I ran into was the ever-changing library dependencies which
required me to uninstall a lot of programs and then reinstall them
again later.

My frontends are both broken right now, so my system is happily
recording lots of shows that I can't watch. The problem on my XBox
is that the Myth upgrade destroyed X11 and I haven't found an
Xorg-compatible device driver yet. On my desktop machine I have a
fully-functional X desktop that plays videos and music using every
other program, but when I launch Myth it locks up about 3 seconds
into the playback. When it locks up the mouse still works and I
can ping the box, but that's it. Everything else is dead so I
can't ssh in to see what's happening.
