Subject: [mythtv-users] Recommendations Please, TV Card

What is the easiest to get working and most compatible TV
card for a Linux machine? I live in the United States. I
don't need to fight it, something that works is fine. It
doesn't have to be HD, but I do want to use the PVR
function.

I would reccomend using any distro that has an install method that fits *YOU*. I havent tried using Linspire, although the thought had occurred. But the one thing that made me goto Fedora is the guide that held my hand thru everything so I could get a feel of what all goes into this. The other is that there are a ton of people that can be leaned on for aid that can say from experience what was done to fix various snags.

That said, Happauge makes excellent cards. Aside from a wierd fixable issue that is probably isolated to me and my little world, the PVR150 rocks. I may end up going to the 500 for the dual tuner capabilites, but really am not that compelled for any other reason to swap out. I forget the name of some HD (linux only fwiw) based cards that supposedly rock, but if you watch the Systm episode on ... MythTV & KnoppMyth, the card they used and the company is mentioned.

Good luck, and have fun :D

Schotty.
