[mythtv-users] not transcode a .nuv but record->export to avi

Hi,

I like the feature to transcode the recordings in order to reduce its size.
But aside from mythtv these files are useless, not human readable 
filenames, needs a patched mplayer, no good.

Can I instead export the recording directly to avi ?
with some nifty scripting perhaps
with commercials cut and more muppetshow antics to boot ?
