Well, that's true of things recorded on a bttv card.  The problem is
there's no clean way to (yet) to cut up an mpeg2 file without
re-encoding the whole thing.  the way nuvexport does this is with
avidemux2, but avidemux2 has the problem of having the GUI pop up,
even if you access it from the commandline, which nuvexport deals with
by using a fake X session that never gets displayed.

My only gripe with doing it that way, is that the files are no longer
in the database.  If there was some way for nuvexport to do the
commercial cutting, and then put the file back into the database, with
the new length and everything, that would be good.  I'd like to have
the files show up with the recorded shows, rather than having to go
into the videos menu for them.
