Hi Liivo,

I also have the Leadtek TV2000 XP Expert card, and have put quite a bit
of time into a not-yet-working MythTV setup; I have worked through the
exact issue you're having so I'll share my experiences.

The issue with the mythbackend crash in 0.16 is a known issue, and was
fixed soon after the 0.16 release. A diff for the one-line change is
available at
http://cvs.mythtv.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/mythtv/libs/libmythtv/NuppelVideoRecorder.cpp?r1=text&tr1=1.178&r2=text&tr2=1.179&makepatch=1&diff_format=u.
I took the ATRpms .spec file and added this patch, and the resulting
RPM's do display and record video, though sound is still a problem.
E-mail me privately if you want a copy of the spec or RPM.

On the latest CVS version of MythTV, however, I get the same
VIDIOCMCAPTURE0 errors you are seeing; I assume some change since
September 12 has broken cx88 support again. For you MythTV gurus: is
there a way to get historical CVS snapshots to try and identify which
change broke cx88 support? And are there any reports of actually
working 0.16+ MythTV setups?

Cheers,

Marc

Original message follows:

Hello All!

TV card is Leadtek TV2000 XP Expert (If i'm right it had Connexant 23881).
FC3 is up and running. Kernel module options are correct and working fine.
tvtime is working fine (although with not so good picture as it has under
windows, but the quality is still acceptable), so there is no conflicts
between FC3 kernel, modules, tv-card and v4l. Installed myth from fc3
atrpms, backend crashes with "segmentation fault" and no readable error
messages when choosing "Watch TV" from frontend. Also myth fc2 at.rpm-s
didn't work, entering to "Watch TV" gives only one frame with green and
white colors with very low resolution and then hangs forever, frontend
looses connection and had to kill manually backend. So, decided to compile
manually myth 0.16 from CVS. Compiling was successful. After manually
compiled mythtv I got finally some kind of readable error message. So the
symptoms are still the same. When choosing "Watch TV" from frontend, backend
gives inifinite count of message:
VIDIOCMCAPTURE0: Invalid argument
VIDIOCMCAPTURE1: Invalid argument
...frontend looses connection and have to kill backend manually. Although it
is interesting that going to Mythphone live tv is showed in mythphone
window. But why it doesn't work in mythbackend ??? What is VIDIOCMCAPTURE0
and how to solve it?

This error is reproduceable using either FC2 or FC3.

rgds,
Liivo.
