As for the B&W, a couple of things to check ,  I had problems with a
s-video to scart converter, it plain didn't work, had to swap to using
video out to scart to get colour, also (but I don't know how this
affects the PVR-350) I had to make sure that my bios was set to use
PAL on on-board tv-out as it defaulted to NTSC and my TV is PAL, so
bootup was black and white...but this is probably irrelevant for you..
