[mythtv-users] VFD/LCD + lcdproc, anyone have it working with myth?

I recently added the Ahanix 16x2 VFD to my D.vine 5 case.  It's the VFD 
that attaches to the parallel port, not the USB version.  I compiled 
lcdproc and I'm able to display the standard lcdproc output on the VFD, 
such as CPU load, uptime, etc.

However, I get a few garbage characters on the outer edges, and what I 
really want to do is display song titles in mythmusic, or time elapsed 
when watching a recorded show.  I understand there is a MythLCD module, 
but I haven't tried compiling it yet - I'm using mythtv-suite from 
ATrpms, and I don't want to screw it up.  I found a couple examples of 
Perl scripts designed to interface with lcdproc...has anyone written 
scripts to display information from myth?  Or is MythLCD the only (or 
best) way to go?
