[mythtv-users] Problems w/ setting up 2 PVR-250 Cards

Thanks for the reply Shawn...

I read this thread last night but I can't downgrade to the 1.9-based ivtv
driver or my Rev2 card will not recognize properly (I need to be able to use
the new CardType parameter. So, while it might fix my Rev1 card, my system
locks up during boot if I don't manually declare the card type.

Problems w/ setting up 2 PVR-250 CardsHi Nate,

Rest assured, you are not the only one wrestling with this problem. See the
discussion going on here..
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/archive/MythTV_C2/Users_F11/Cant_capture_usi
ng_PVR250_P117276/

It appears to be an issue with the newer releases (0.1.9.26 and above) of
the ivtv drivers. From your description, it appears that it may also only
affect the Rev.1 cards (mine is a 48432 as well). The proposed solution so
far is to downgrade to the ivtv drivers to 0.1.9.25. It has worked for
Thomas. I didn't have as much luck in downgrading mine. My system now
freezes when I attempt to capture. :-( I'll be doing some more testing
tonight. Please let us know if you find any more information.

I have gotten both cards installed and recognized by ivtv, but am running
into some problems when I try to test the capture. If I do a 'cat
/dev/video0 > /tmp/tuner0.mpg' I get a picture, however doing a 'cat
/dev/video1 > /tmp/tuner1.mpg' results in an error message stating 'cat:
/dev/video1: Input/output error'. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as
to what I could do to remedy the problem. The card on /video0 is the new
card, and /video1 is my old so I know it atleast works. Below is some
information about my setup.
/etc/modules.conf:
# ivtv modules setup
alias char-major-81 videodev
alias char-major-81-0 ivtv
alias char-major-81-1 ivtv
options ivtv ivtv_debug=1 mpg_buffers=90
options ivtv cardtype=2,
options tuner type=2 # NTSC tuner
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
add below ivtv msp3400 saa7115 tuner
/bin/dmesg | grep ivtv:
ivtv: SGarray_size = 420, DSGarray_size = 16
ivtv: User specified iTVC16 chip
saa7114.c: starting probe for adapter ivtv i2c driver #0 (0x10005)
ivtv: Encoder revision: 0x02040011
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 0
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 32
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 224
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 24
ivtv: Found an iTVC15 based chip
saa7114.c: starting probe for adapter ivtv i2c driver #1 (0x10005)
ivtv: Encoder revision: 0x02040011
ivtv: Decoder revision: 0x02020023
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 1
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 33
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 225
ivtv: Registered v4l2 device, minor 25
ivtv: loaded
ivtv: Timeout waiting for data!
/dev/video0 is a PVR-250 MCE Rev2 (32552)
/dev/video1 is a PVR-250 MCE Rev1 (48432)
Thanks for any help that you can offer. I tried to search the ivtv mailing
list but it seems that the web interface is down.
Nate
