I say multiple emitter ports on the back of the unit.  Maybe a header on 
the pcd with a say 6 pin cable which runs to a custom pc card slot back 
plate w/ multiple sockets on it for the ir blaster to plug into.

I know in my own case, a single powerful ir blaster wouldn't work due to 
the architecture of the house.
