Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  bttv: Depends: bttv-kmdl (= 0.9.12-32.rhfc1.at)
E: Broken packages

If I go into synaptic and look at bttv packages, the bttv-
kmdl-2.4.22-1.2154.nptl_31.rhfc1.at package is listed as version
20040105_0.9.12-33.rhfc1.at while from the error above the dependency of
bttv is 0.9.12-32.rhfc1.at

Trying to manually select the lower version on the expert tab does
nothing, and even more dependency errors come up if one tries to proceed
with the package install in synaptic.

I tried to manually download the packages from
http://atrpms.physik.fu-berlin.de/dist/fc1/bttv/ but installing
bttv-kmdl-2.4.22-1.2154.nptl_31.rhfc1.at_0.9.12-32.rhfc1.at gave me an
error about unlocatable package strictdep-kernel-i686

I tried installing strictdep-kernel-i686 but in synaptic got the
following error...

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
strictdep-kernel-kmdl-2.4.22-1.2154.nptl:
 Depends: strictdep-kernel-athlon (= 2.4.22-1.2154.nptl)
Depends: /boot/vmlinux-2.4.22-1.2154.nptl but it is not installable

Same error if I do it from the rpm I downloaded from atrpms

Can this last error be fixed with a symlink or something? (or is that
totally barking up the wrong tree.)

I also tried downloaded the bttv source but it also gives me an error
and me to re-compile the kernel with modules enabled. I dont want to
recompile the Kernel (because I failed miserably the last time I
tried...) and would like to exhaust all other avenues first.

Thanks for all your help and insight. I am really wanting to get my ATI
TV-Wonder VE working in addition to my totally awesome PVR-250.

Darren
