Just keep trying; hit the up arrow in your terminal and retry the 
command until it goes through. It might take 20 tries.

Not optimal, but hey, that's sourceforge.

Also, you may want to ask on the ivtv list if even running "current" CVS 
using the CVS checkout method is better than the CVS-LATEST tarball, 
since SF CVS is actually 24 hours behind whatever the developers have 
uploaded.
