Stan,

this is what I did:

I run just ssl-enabled apache on port 443 (80 is completely disabled).

As for securing mythweb I posted a short "howto" some time ago.  Try this

If the url gets broken into multiple lines, combine them into one in your 
browser's address bar.  Or search for .htaccess at 
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/archive and then look for the one posted by 
chepati at yahoo.com.

One thing I forgot to mention is that, of course, I had to grant enough 
privileges to the new database to the apache running user, so apache can read 
from mysql and get the user/password info.
