Yes, your right, I had actually thought of this issue, but forgot to mention in in my first note.  It depends on what the goal is, if you have multiple clients playing the same stream in different areas of the house in such a way that you can't hear the other clients (low volume/distance/walls) then close is probably fine.  If yoou want near perfect, like a stream of party music intended to be played loud all over the house so that you can hear the music as you move from room to room, then close is probably not good enough.  In that case you are probably better off with an RF or hardwired solution on the speaker side.

I doubt any network protocol is going to be able to nail this kind of sync, even a multicast situation is going to be problematic.
