I picked up one of the new boxed ones on Saturday before the ad went out - works great. Had to fight a little to get the driver compiled, but from the ivtv site, the errors I got were common. The lspci-v command gives some slightly different info:
02:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Internext Compression Inc: Unknown device 0016 (rev 01)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device 4009
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 18
Memory at ec000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64M]
Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 2
Now the programs are larger because the quality is better. Gonna have to get a bigger HD....

What is the difference between old and newly boxed WinTV PVR-250's? Are
there some that don't work? Sorry to ask if it has been covered but I
just this minute ordered two of them and would like to know if they will
work...
TIA!

The one I purchased is in an orange and black box (mostly orange). I
believe this is the new box - the package graphics are different than
the ones on the Hauppauge web site and the box in the advertisement.
The box is labelled WinTV-PVR-250 Model 980. The sticker on the card
says NTSC/NTSC-J 32032 REV B310. Remote included.
