Depends on your route, first time I installed was with a PVR-250 and I 
followed Jarod's very good install guide at http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/

mythtv is one of the best bits of open source software out there but be 
aware it is in "development" and will have some rought edges (read bugs 
that bite) <Chuckle>

I'm running a Athlon XP-2400+ with two Nova-T cards and apart from some 
gross instability in the motherboard (been a week since it last froze up 
  after I've upgraded the abit bios) I've had no problems. Certainly no 
great ones with mythtv.

Nope but from what I've seen although its not simple/trivial etc. to 
install. You certainly don't need to be a linux guru to install the 
pre-build pacakges.

Well I've never suffered from mythtv missing recordings and I'm no help 
on the stbility as I'm currently running with the latest cvs version. 
So that doesn't really count..

I'm personaly looking forward to contrubuting but I think I'll learn to 
walk before I can run..Always a good policy with a software project the 
size and complexity of mythtv.

Try it you won't regret it..
