Aiee... Maybe your cable modem isn't picky, but mine certainly is... There's a
certain threshold above which they don't care, but if you're already near it,
things can get ugly... I tried dropping a cheap splitter in there once, and
buh-bye Internet connectivity.
I'm split five ways at the cable box outside, all heading off to different
parts of the house, so there isn't any (easy) way I could put the amplifield
splitter in front of the cable modem, short of getting a second one.
