It's certainly powerful enough to act as a backend. You may run into
problems if you want it to be a frontend and you get a PVR250. Check
the HOWTO; there are certain microcode instructions you're going to need
in order to get deinterlacing support, and a PII/350 may not have them.
Now, if you get a PVR-350, which will do all the video decoding for you
a PII/350 will be fine.
A PIII/733 is plenty fast enough to be a front and backend.

Not true, if you're using a hardware capture card.
