I wasn't going to post, but what the heck.

Maybe it's just an american thing, but there is a LONG standing cultural
joke about this. My dad has a hat that says "I'm the BOSS - and my wife
gave me permission to say so." We talk about "the woman behind the
[politically affluent] man" which both plays on the fact that she's
behind the scenes, but also "behind" in the sense of being a driving
force in the man's life. Honestly, when my wife asks me to do
something, I do it. Why? Well, because it maker her happy, which makes
me happy. I'd do (almost) anything for her.

As for the "the wife" comments, I often directly refer to my wife as
"wife" (and she calls me "husband"). For us, it's just another term of
endearment - for me, it's amazing that this wonderful woman chose to
spend the rest of her life with me, raise kids with me, wake up next to
me every morning, etc.

I can't speak for the WAF stuff. She uses mythweb to record shows,
which I then archive to SVCD and she watches on the dvd player (I need
to fix my mythtv remote so we can actually use the gui again without a
keyboard). I think this probably goes back to the "tapeless VCR"
comment from an earlier post. This is all we need out of mythtv (since
it lives next to the tv, far away from the computers, neither of us
spends much time out there).

Mythweb gets high marks, though. But then again, like Isaac, I
consulted her while I was working on the new interface. She's had her
share of web design work, and has a much more artistic eye than I do
(wish either of us had time to do some graphics for mythweb), so her
input is invaluable.
