The issue was tracked down at atrpms-devel. For some reason Shay had
the wrong kernel installed, he had the i686 kernel on an athlon
machine. Later apt-get commands tried to install the athlon version of
kmlds which conflicted with the kernel. This was not explicit for
nvidia kmdl, no kmdl at all would update onto the wrong arch (unless
forced to be i686 arch).

The real question is how the wrong kernel got on his machine. Shay
reports apt-get doing the mess, if anyone experiences similar
misinstallation of the kernel via apt-get please report to
atrpms-users (as this is very off-topic for mythtv).
