[mythtv-users] Linux machine running mythtv is freezing up all the time

I am using debian package mythtv-0.14-6, AMD Athlon XP 2500+, NVidia GeForce
MX 4000 video, and a V-Stream 878RF (Brooktree) TV card. I have also
installed ALSA, and have two sound cards, since the motherboard one isn't
full duplex. I have one sound card for recording, and another for playback.

Currently, my machine freezes up once a day. Well, it freezes up and not until
I get home from work, can I reboot it. My other computer is usually ssh'd
onto the machine, but the network socket on my other computer times out from
TCP keep alive protocol. It has never successfully recorded the first TV show
I have programmed in the morning successfully. However, after rebooting it,
shows later in the day tend to work. (And I LIKE it, when it works.)

I cannot pin it down to a particular time, i.e. associated with a cron job
that runs. I used to have a wireless keyboard, but swapped it with a
hard-wired one, so that is not the problem either. Currently, it is
hard-wired by ethernet into my network router, so the problem is not a
wireless NIC locking up the machine.

I didn't expect Linux to lock up due to a kernel issue, because Linux is
pretty stable. I cannot tell if mythtv or mysql is freezing things up. Have
any of you seen this type of problems? And are there some run time debug
flags I can turn on? I currently have the binaries installed, not the source
code done with a custom build.
