[mythtv-users] XV playback gives me a purple screen.

Hi,

My system info is:
Gentoo 1.4, 2.6.5 kernel
Hauppauge WinTV/Radio
Matrox Parhelia, triple head (3840x1024x32)
XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1 (using the Matrox Parhelia 1.1.0 Pro driver).

When I tried running mythtv with directfb support, mythfrontend cores
whenever I try to playback something. So I re-compiled mythfrontend
without directfb support, ie. making it use Xv support.

Now, when I go to playback mode (regardless of whether its a
pre-recorded or live feed playback), I get my standard window, which is
all purple. I can hear the audio just fine. I've screen shotted it
here (note, the below screen shot is what it looked like in 'triple head
merged mode', in 'triple head xinerama mode', the windows is filled with
purple. See below for details):

Now it used to work. I cannot be sure if the cause is one of the
following two things:
1) I upgraded from 0.13 to 0.14 of mythtv
2) I changed my X from using an unaccelerated (and non-XV capable)
version of the Matrox Parhelia driver in xinerama mode, to using the
accelerated (XV capable) version of the driver in merged mode. Later on
I changed to using the accelerated (XV capable) version of the driver in
xinerama mode. the only difference being that instead of seeing black
'bands' on either side of the window, the window is fully purple.

Either case should not be an issue anyway, I would expect. Xawtv and
mplayer both display in XV mode perfectly fine on my system.

As I said before, when I had it compiled with FB enabled, I got the
following output:

2004-04-12 00:37:27 mythfrontend version: 0.14.20040123-1 www.mythtv.org

When running in XV mode, it gives no error output, and thinks it is
working just fine, but is not (though I can hear the audio just fine).

Any help, suggestions, etc. would be appreciated. I don't care whether
DirectFB or XV starts working, as long as I can actually play back my
recorded content ;)

PS. on a completely different note, how is the Windows mythtv frontend
going? I'd like to allow my wife to directly access my PVR's content on
her computer, on my backend. Obviously, a .zip with all required libs,
etc. that can be installed (or unzipped) on her machine would be
preferable, but I am a software developer by trade, so I can compile it
myself if necessary. Just wondering.

Thanks,

PreZ :)
