 Can't you prioritize channels in the channel list to make one tuner
"pimary" over another set of channels?

Is there a way to force mythtv to use /dev/video1 (a PVR250MCE V2 on my
machine) instead of /dev/video0 (BT878) for the default Live TV capture
card?  

For whatever reason when I switch PCI slots so my machine initializes
the PVR250 first I cannot get IVTV to load.  Everything is working
great, I just want to switch "affinity".
