XvMC support should present in your nVidia driver, enabling it your playback 
app is the bigger question. I was actually asking if you'd compiled in XvMC 
support to whatever you were using to play back the video (xine-hd or 
mythtv). I don't know if mplayer can utilize XvMC for HDTV streams or not.

You might try another bench with xine-hd, XvMC support compiled in. You could 
run into issues when you start using Myth. It uses considerably more cpu for 
playback if you want to enable all the goodies, so you could end up pegging 
the cpu to 100%, but I think mplayer isn't very cpu-efficient for HD just 
yet, and likely not using XvMC.
